THE THEME OF OLU OBAFEMI’S WHEEL AND ITS RELEVANCE TO NIGERIA SITUATION.

· The theme of poverty by Imam where he begin to tells people about what is going on the land that there is no rain, food scarce and some people have plenty money, it has no value. Money today is like dry leaves, people. Good are scarce. Al you slaves of Allah. All you people blessed tongues, tongues planted in the roof of the mouth, should pray for us.

What this Imam talking about is that there have big men in their street whose did not have intension of helping the poor ones in their street and their use their wealth build different types mansion, buying flashing cars, and equally invest in another country and living the poor ones in their suffering in their streets instead of them to invest in their country for the benefit of people living their country in other to reduce the levels of poverty in their country.

In relevant to Nigeria situation, Nigeria is a country with a population of over 140million people over 60% of Nigerians live in rural areas. Poverty is especially severe in rural areas where social services and infrastructure are limited or non existent. Africa is the continent where the poorest people in the world live. Nigeria is the most populous black African country where about 70% of the population live under one dollar per day Nigeria has been classified as a poor nation.

In Nigeria, majority of those living in rural area are poor depend on agriculture for food and income. Small scale farmers who cultivate tiny plots of land and depend on rainfall rather than irrigation system produce about 90% of the country’s food. Women play a major role in production, processing and marketing of food crops. The poorest group go on subsistence living but are often short of food, particularly during the pre-harvest period. Many poor Nigerians suffer from malnutrition and other diseases related to poor nutrition such as acute nectrozing ulcerative gingivitis (ANUG) and Calcium ions (3.6). The HIV/AIDs pandemic has also taking toll in the rural population and could be consider an emerging public problem.

The extreme of poverty in Nigeria are outrageous. The outrage is not just that auxidable deprivation, suffering and death are intolerable; it is also that these situation co-exist with affluence, corruption is endemic in Nigeria and this has impoverished the nation intergenerational exist in the country fight against poverty is necessary to reduce intergenerational transfer of poverty in Nigeria children are born into poverty. The oral health status of under privileged Nigeria is generally poor. Many Nigerians suffer from oral diseases such as caries, fracture the teeth, gingivitis, tumours and other dental problems (7 – 15). Non availability of National data on the prevalence of common oral diseases among Nigerian is a major problem and poses a great challenge to the Nigerian Dental Association whose member are major stakeholders regarding oral health carry delivery system in the country.

· Theme of corruption by Musa which stated that situation thereby the colonels and the generals who gave an order to recruited one to go and fight a war with their enemy’s while facing their enemy’s and fire each other and the colonels and the generals will go and lodge in a expensive hotel to enjoy themselves and having different types of ladies for fun and their well protected in the hotel and their must not die. In the process of the war eventually the recruited ones die the. General and the commander their will increase their salaries with the money saved from their death.

After the war, the colonel and Generals sat down with the policemen the permanent secretaries and the commissioners to plan how to share the money which their taught by the recruited force and die for.

In relevant to Nigeria situation, whereby the top hierarchy of the government especially in the case of local government where development and you will see the top officials in the local government will sat down together and plan how the allocated money is going to be share within themselves without any development not even only that of salary of a particular local government have be allocated their also deduct some part of the money from the staff salary.

Even in the case of the forces you will go to any force of your choice without visit any office or bribe anybody but now the rate of corruption have increase you will go for a particular force of your choice you will visit some offices and bribe them yet if you are not lucky after you have bribed you will not yet succeed because the top officers in that offices are corrupt.

Political corruption is a persistent phenomenon that pervades the Nigerian state. Since the creation of modern public administration in the country, there have been cases of official misuse of resources for personal enrichment. The rise of the public administration and the discovery of oil and natural gas are two major events seen to have led to litary of ignoble corrupt practices in the country. Over the years, the country has seen its wealth withered with little to show in living condition of the average human being. Nigeria political leader, Obafemi Awolowo rasied a salient issue when he said, since independence, our government have been a matter of few holding the cow for the strongest and most cunning to milk, under those circumstances, everybody runs over everybody to make good at the expense of others. Characteristically, apologist for the failings of African governments have blamed colonialism for the pervasive corruption. According to this view, the nation’s colonial history may have restricted any early influence in an ethical revolution throughout the colonial period, most Nigerian were stuck in Ignorance and poverty. The trapping of flash cars, houses and success of the colonist may influence the poor to see the colonist as symbol of success and to emulate the colonist in different political ways. Involvement in the agenda of colonial rule may also inhibit idealism in the early stage of nascent nation’s development. A view commonly held during the colonial days was that the colonist properly (cars houses, farms etc). is no “our” property. Thus vandalism and looting of public properties was not seen as a crime against society this view is what has generated into the more recent disregard for public property and lack of public trust and concern for public goods as a collective national property.

Corruption, though prevalent was kept at manageable levels during the First Republic. However the case of corruption during was sometimes clouded by political in fighting. Recently in 2014 Nigeria’s rank improved from 143rd to the 136th position on transparency, international’s corruption perception index. Therefore, corruption is one, of barrier affecting the development of the country (Nigeria) which started from the Federal, State and the Local Government.

Theme of love between Kemi and Kofa that’s when Kemi developed her interest in Kofo and even went ahead to wrote him a love letter and the letter contain the content of love and other love materials such as a five smell, a tiny small tree of red rose. After kofa red the letter and he discovered that the girl want to put him in trouble because he is from the poor family and Kemi from the rich family he now be reason that would she be bold enough to walk with me publicly in the village? Wont her rich parents diown her? He now say that he has no right to take her through all that:

Kofo now pick his written material and replied her by advice her to face her studies and leave him alone he further says that she should leave him alone and his poverty and humble condition and say that why would she mock and ridicule me?

In relevance to Nigeria situation, you will see a situation whereby a rich daughter or son have found his love and the person he/she fell in love with he/she from the poor family and the parent of rich daughter or son discovered their son or daughter is in love with a poor boy or girl their will find possible solution to destroyed that love that’s existing between their son or daughter and if their did not succeed in that way their will go ahead and take him or her to police custody and warned him to leave their daughter alone.

Let’s take this movie for instance (LOVE IS BLIND) when Ramsey Noah is in love with a richman daughter and Ramsey is from poor family and the family of lady discovered that their daughter is in love with a boy from a poor family their warn him he refuse to live their daughter alone and went ahead to set him up with a hire-killer their did not kill him the hire-killer took him to a very deep hole and dump him their after biting him thoroughly just because he his in love, with a richman daughter with this point of view it’s concluded that in this country Nigeria the rich people want their daughter to get married to the rich not the poor which is one the barrier effecting the situation of country (Nigeria).
